It wasn’t a grand strategy that allowed Patrick and Margaret Besinga, co-owners of Works Plumbing & Rooter in Pacifica, Calif., to win a custom-wrapped 2022 Ford F-150 Raptor pickup truck in ServiceTitan’s customer-referral program.
At first, they didn’t even know the referral program existed. The referrals came even before the Besingas had signed up for ServiceTitan.

“It's funny,” Patrick said. “We just started asking people like, ‘Hey, we are going to have a demo with ServiceTitan. You guys want to join?’
“And a lot of people joined, just to hear the Zoom presentation.”
That presentation was the beginning of something big, and not just for the Besingas.
“At the end of the Zoom presentation, I already told him let's just get it,” Margaret said. “We asked everyone, ‘What do you guys think? We're going to go.’
“And it's, ‘Oh, we're just going to go too.’ So everyone just went. “All the ones who did a demo with us all went with ‘The Works’ package. All at the same time.”
Get paid for referring ServiceTitan
Those were the first of the ServiceTitan referrals that led to them being named to top referrers of the software for 2021.
The Besingas’ custom-wrapped 2022 Ford F-150 Raptor is on top of the referral bonuses they already received – $500 for each contractor who sits for a demo, plus 20% of the annual cost of ServiceTitan for the new company, capped at $10,000, once the referral is active on the software for three months.
ServiceTitan recently distributed more than $250,000 in referral bonuses to customers as part of the program. And the presentation to the Besingas at ServiceTitan’s Pantheon user conference had other customers visiting the referral booth to find out how they could win a truck at next year’s user conference.
“Once that truck was awarded, it really got everyone’s attention,” ServiceTitan Referrals Program Specialist Naomi Mendzer said. “All of a sudden they were very willing to submit a referral.”
Referrals can be submitted through the referrals page on ServiceTitan’s website or from a dropdown on the homepage of a customer’s ServiceTitan account.
“The customers who submit referrals consistently do so,” Mendzer said, “and I notice that most of their businesses are pretty successful. There are companies who earned $30,000 or more in referral bonuses in 2022.”
The Besingas’ advice on how to win a custom-wrapped truck, or just a big referral bonus, for your business?
“Believe in the product first,” Patrick said. “And then, if there’s an opportunity, help other people.
“And if you're going to get compensated for it, why not? You're referring the best software company here in the United States. So there's no reason why you wouldn't refer ServiceTitan to anybody, especially those who want to grow.”
‘Can you find that email?’
That, not long ago, was Works Plumbing & Rooter. The Besingas wanted to use ServiceTitan – “the best of the best” – from the start, but were told their company wasn’t big enough for the software. Yet.
Works Plumbing tried three other softwares in about a year, but knew they wanted to be with ServiceTitan. When Patrick found out ServiceTitan was taking some customers with two trucks—they had three at the time—the pursuit began again. They had never deleted the email from the rejection.
“I was like, ‘Margaret can you find that email?’” Patrick said.
She could.
That led to the Zoom call that sold multiple companies at once, and Works Plumbing went live on ServiceTitan in August 2020.
Today, the company has 12 trucks. They have seen the role ServiceTitan played—and have continued to spread the word. He just wants to help other contractors, he said, have success, regardless of the trade.
“If people ask me what I use, then I just refer them to ServiceTitan,” Patrick said.
The pitch comes naturally, Margaret said.
“Sometimes he's like, ‘What software are you using?’” Margaret said. “Sometimes they don't even ask him, but if they own a business, in any trade, he will ask, ‘Why don't you use ServiceTItan?’
“He will just throw it out there. And then probably they think about it, and they'll reach out.”
An easy decision
Patrick is very comfortable with his recommendation, he said.
“It's like referring a plumber,” Patrick said. “You don't want to refer a bad plumber or a bad electrician. When I refer ServiceTitan, I'm confident that I'm referring the best company out there.”
And he knows exactly what he’ll do with his Raptor, with Works Plumbing mascot Rocket on the side, when it’s delivered.
“I drive a pickup right now, so that pickup is going to my manager,” he said.
“I’m going to keep the new one.”
And if that F-150 Raptor is as good as advertised? He might even refer someone else to the brand. Because when you believe in the product …
