The 8-Figure Checklist: How to Build a Multi-Million Dollar Business

October 1, 2024

Episode Overview

Hunter Ballew knows about high-pressure occupations.

Today, he’s the founder of Roofing.com, RoofCon, and the Revolt Mastermind Group.

Those trade-industry successes came after a wholly different career as a U.S. Marine and a firefighter.

Early on, being a first-responder taught Ballew about decision-making processes and the power of leadership. He brought a sense of discipline and determination to the trades.

“Someone said, ‘Obviously, RoofCon is a roofing conference,’” he said. “And I replied, ‘No, and it never has been.’ It's a leadership conference that has mostly roofers there.”

Over the course of running retreats, master classes and roofing events, Ballew developed an eight-figure checklist to help business owners grow their businesses.

The checklist is something that grew from years of working in the industry. And he says it’s always customized for the unique needs of different management structures.

One tenet that Ballew preaches is that a business owner should always be open to listening to buyout offers.

“You should build your company in a way that tomorrow you can sell it if you need to, because it's irresponsible not to,” he says.

To that same principle, Ballew believes a responsible owner should look at the business’ numbers every day. Even if numbers are not your forte.

“Look at your numbers every single day,” he implores. “The visibility and the fact that it's top of mind is going to change your urgency inside the business to focus on revenue-producing activities.”

And allow you to put out any necessary fires.

Hunter Ballew recently joined ServiceTitan’s Jackie Aubel on the “Toolbox for the Trades” podcast, which included Ballew’s thoughts on:
