Building Connections: How to Strategically Network at Pantheon

July 23, 2024

Episode Overview

ServiceTitan Brand & Marketing Industry Lead Ellen Rohr gets excited this time every year for the company’s annual Pantheon conference.

Her joy isn’t sparked by thoughts about financial planning. Rather, Rohr looks forward to sharing her insights into networking. She thrives on the ability to build relationships, make meaningful connections and strategize about how to get the most out of a conference.

Of course, you’re going to take notes at Pantheon. Warns Rohr: “Don't write down stuff you're never going to act [up]on.”

In other words, don’t overdo it.

“Instead, write down something actionable, something inspiring, and keep your notes narrow because we can't act on everything,” she adds. “You have to identify the few things that you really think are going to be important and then sell your story.”

A doable goal is to set up meetings within half a dozen people you really want to connect with, Rohr says.

Do plan your day, she advises, but leave moments for serendipitous things to happen.

“The best things in my life have come out of the blue,” Rohr says.

You never know who may turn out to be that one special person who delivers an “aha” moment or becomes a business confidant for years to come.

“No one makes it to the top alone,” Rohr says. “Everybody has a mentor or two or a thousand that they have to be grateful for.”

You never know how or when you’ll find them–but you won’t find them if you don’t practice strategic networking.
