A TRIO of Company Pillars: Customer, Employee, and Environmental Care

October 31, 2023

Episode Overview

When brothers David and Michael Katz moved to the United States in 2015, their bags were loaded with both dreams and a killer work ethic. Those were their foundational building blocks.

By 2021, the brothers had set their sights on the HVAC industry. They created Trio Heating and Air Conditioning.

“We looked at so many HVAC company owners,” Michael Katz says. “We're seeing the growth that they're having. We think we can do just as good or even better.”

The Katzes got familiar with the ServiceTitan platform and began attending annual Pantheon conferences. The brothers credit attending sessions and just chatting with peers at these gatherings with giving them the insight to take the leap from just doing the work to creating a viable company infrastructure.

“It took us a long time to understand what it means to actually trust your team,” Michael Katz says. “You need to understand what is in their life, what they want to accomplish.”

Indeed, they realized customers, employees and environmental care were essential. It was all connected.

“One of the biggest turning points that we had was [after] Pantheon last year,” David Katz says. “We came back to the shop, we raised our prices, and we started paying our employees better.”

In 2023, Trio Heating & Air would clear $10 million in revenue. David and Michael are pleased, but determined to keep growing. They realize that along with maintaining a strong work ethic, they need to keep networking and sharing.

David Katz advises: “Keep reaching out to people and keep asking for help…People who have already done this understand the struggle.”

David and Michael Katz recently joined ServiceTitan’s Jackie Aubel on the “Toolbox for the Trades” podcast, which included their thoughts on:
