Today, ServiceTitan announced that it has entered a definitive agreement to acquire FieldRoutes (formerly PestRoutes and Lobster Marketing), a leading cloud and mobile SaaS provider in the pest control and lawn care industries.
Through this combination, ServiceTitan and FieldRoutes will advance their shared mission to make contracting businesses more efficient, more profitable, and better prepared to serve the needs of their customers.
“We're thrilled to partner with FieldRoutes to provide pest control and lawn care companies with unparalleled vertical expertise,” ServiceTitan CEO and co-founder Ara Mahdessian said. “By accelerating FieldRoutes' successful track record of servicing these trades, we will be one step closer to our mission of helping all contractors achieve the level of success they deserve.”
The deal will expand ServiceTitan’s reach in pest control and lawn care, building on previous acquisitions of ServicePro, a software solution for pest, lawn, and arbor service providers, and Aspire Software, a software provider for commercial landscaping and janitorial businesses.
Both ServiceTitan and FieldRoutes pride themselves on building world-class teams to fuel the success of the hard-working people in the trades. Both have also proven the ability to build industry-leading technology to power the most important workflows within the trades they support.
Their growth paths, however, have been different. ServiceTitan experienced rapid growth fueled by its access to Silicon Valley venture capital, while FieldRoutes was backed by private equity from an early stage.
“The culture, mission, and quality of people of ServiceTitan and FieldRoutes are shockingly similar. From my perspective, the main difference has been access to capital. There simply wasn’t a local venture capital ecosystem in Dallas when FieldRoutes was formed, so they didn’t have access to the same type of growth capital to fuel their journey as ServiceTitan did in California,” said Connor Theilmann, ServiceTitan’s Vice President of Business Operations. “Now they do.”
“We're putting our money where our mouth is with a plan to invest aggressively and hire hundreds of new people to join our mission,” Theilmann said. “We're especially focused on R&D and Customer Success—where we plan to more than double the team sizes by the end of the year–and I’m especially proud to expand our presence in my hometown of Dallas, Texas."
In addition to capital, ServiceTitan will provide FieldRoutes customers with access to its most in-demand Pro Products, including Marketing Pro and Phones Pro, which thousands of ServiceTitan contractors rely on to acquire new customers and more efficiently grow their businesses.
“We believe this partnership will prove to be transformative for the pest control and lawn care industry and raise the bar compared to what’s available today,” Theilmann said.
The closing of the acquisition will occur upon the satisfaction of certain closing conditions including regulatory approvals. Upon the closing of the acquisition, FieldRoutes will continue to operate independently under CEO William Chaney, reporting to Theilmann, who calls Chaney “a total rock star.” Previously, Chaney helped grow RealPage into a $1 Billion ARR+ vertical SaaS business. In his 12+ years at the company, William held a variety of executive positions including President of multiple business units and most recently Chief Product Officer.
“The North Star for both ServiceTitan and FieldRoutes is clear. We are customer obsessed,” Chaney said. “FieldRoutes has grown alongside our customers. Their success is our success, and we remain committed to building software that supports the needs of our customer base.”
