How Small Businesses Can Create Big Impact Through Philanthropy

October 29, 2024

Episode Overview

David and Natascha Manley spend most of their personal and professional time together. FYI: Their meet-cute started on match.com.

The co-owners of ProLift Garage Doors have shared an inspiring journey together from retail careers to a franchise ownership that has installed philanthropy as a core of their business.

Both are deeply involved in their local community of Amraillo, Texas. One of the areas where the couple has made a substantial impact is with an organization called Fill With Hope, which addresses food insecurity in local schools.

The couple recognizes the need for kids to have meals in their bellies so the education system can work to students’ full advantage.

“If you're in a position in your community and you’re a small business owner… giving back to your community is going to pay tenfold,” David says.

After being in business for just two years, the Manleys and their relatively small team were 2024 finalists for the Prometheus Award. The award is part of ServiceTitan’s “Titans for Change” initiative, which recognizes customers who do incredible things for their community.

There’s no real secret for how to get your company involved in philanthropy, according to Natascha.

“When giving back, pick something that’s in your heart so it doesn’t feel like work,” she says. “It’s easy to do, and it’s the right thing.”

Natascha has advice for any business owner who might not immediately know where to focus their philanthropic energy.

“If you don’t know a nonprofit organization, talk to your employees,” she says. “There are so many organizations that need help, so pick something that’s [dear to somebody’s] heart.”

David and Natascha Manley recently joined ServiceTitan’s Jackie Aubel on the “Toolbox for the Trades” podcast, which included the Manleys’ thoughts on:
