Fueled by Impact: Leading with a Family and Community Focus

January 28, 2025

Episode Overview

Airworks Solutions CEO Stephanie Allen started off in law school before pivoting to lead a thriving family-run business that’s a bit outside the norm of most HVAC and plumbing companies.

She’s passionate about positive culture, family and making a difference – in the lives of her employees and in the community.

Airwork’s brand is “Family-Run and Mom-Approved.”

Allen is more than pleased with how the company has transitioned.

“We settled into good and now we’re ready for great,” she says.” I figured out that I have great people on my team. So I have to empower them and allow them to thrive and fail at their level.”

The company is developing leaders, including more than the industry standard of female leaders.

Allen’s game plan is to get out of the way and then give feedback. She empowers by stepping back.

“Every time [I] volunteer to do something, it takes away the opportunity for someone else to do it,” she says.

Allen also has a nontraditional approach to staffing and work schedules (including split shifts that allow moms to integrate their home and work responsibilities).

“When we’re a little bit flexible, we’re able to attract great talent,” she says.

Proving that giving back is at the core of Airworks’ success, the company has also partnered with ServiceTitan in a Power the Nation program. In the Ventura County (California) area, Airworks goes into foster homes to help girls who have been trafficked and shows them ways to move onto the next chapter in their lives.

It’s what good moms do.

Stephanie Allen recently joined ServiceTitan’s Jackie Aubel on the “Toolbox for the Trades” podcast, which included Allen’s thoughts on:
